Feel, Look, Taste, Smell, and Hear...

Sensory play is exactly what it sounds like. It's the concept of using your senses to ensure brain stimulation and child development. If you think about it, sensory is already prescribed in our everyday living. We are always smelling, feeling, tasting, etc. The concept around sensory play is just an expansion of what your child is already exposed to. It's about being purposeful when introducing your child to different sensory experiences. I like to use sensory play in regards to helping my own children stay regulated (calm). Sensory play is soothing and allows the brain to cool off because it connects to a specific part of the brain that releases "feel good" hormones throughout the body. I will share several sensory ideas that are practical, easy, and fun!
